Dear Rev. Msgr. Edward J. Burns,
Peace of the Lord be with you.
As the number of the Asian Pacific
deacons is growing in United
States, the NAAPAD has been born in year
2001 by the Korean Deacons with a request from the Secretariat for the
Diaconate at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops to serve all the
Asian Pacific American Deacons. This association is only several years old and
the Asian Pacific Deacons in the United States
is small (about over 300) among the 15,000 Deacons in United States. They scatter all over in most of the
Dioceses, so many of them do not know about the NAAPAD.
The purpose of the NAAPAD is to bring
all Asian Pacific Deacons together to one body; encourage vocation to the
Diaconate among Asian Pacific Americans; strengthen relationship and support of
Asian Pacific Americans Deacons with Bishops and Priests; and to seek
opportunities to collaborate with other American Deacons.
Dear Rev. Msgr. Edward J. Burns, if it
is possible, would you please introduce the NAAPAD to all the Bishops and to
all of the Diaconate Directors in the United States so they can introduce
the NAAPAD to their Asian Pacific Deacons.
May God bless you, and I am looking
forward to working with you in the future.
Sincerely in Christ,
Deacon Luan Tran
President of NAAPAD
CC: Most Rev. Frederck F.
Campbell
Bishop of Columbus, OH
Chairman of Bishops’ Committe on The
Diaconate.
