December, 1999:

The National Conference of Catholic Bishops/United States Catholic Conference requested Korean American Deasons Association(KADA) to organize The National Association of Asian-Pacific American Deacons (NAAPAD).

October, 2000:

 

Following deacons were elected at the 2000 KADA Annual Convention as organizing  committee members for the National Association of Asian-Pacific American Deacons:

Deacon James J. Yun, Chairman,  Deacon  Michael J. Om and Deacon Pascal Hong.

October, 2001:

 

Deacon James J. Yun, Chairman,  resigned the chairmanship with health reason.  Deacon Pascal Hong  took over the chairmanship.

Established the National Association of Asian-Pacific Deacons Association (NAAPAD).

Attended: 13 Korean Deacons and wives

               1 Japanese Deacon and wife

               2 Vietnamese Deacons and wives

Guest Speakers: 1)  Bishop Ed Clark, Auxillary Bishop of LA Archdiocese

                          2)  Prof. Anselm K. Min, Claremont Graduate University, CA

                          3)  Ms. Adele Maria Kim, Marriage Tribunal, LA Archdiocese

 

 

 2003 Annual Meeting for NAAPAD

  

Dates: October 25th, 26th, 2003

Place: St. Stephen Diocesan Center, Honolulu, Hawaii

Attended: 14   Korean Deacons and wives

Guest Speakers: 1)  Bishop Francis DiLorenzo, STD,Bishop of Honolulu Diocese

                          2)  Fr. Marc Alexander, STD,  Diocesan Theologian,

                               Honolulu Diocese

Business:

The President, Deacon Pascal Hong's 2 year term was over and the

Deacon John Nyguen's 2 year term begins.

Deacon Joseph CJ Lee, St. Paul/Minneapolis Archdiocese, was elected as the President-Elect.

Next convention will be held at Washington, DC in October 2004.

  

 

December, 2003:

 

Internet website for NAAPAD was completed by Theresa Lee, a wife of Deacon James Hyun Lee of  Archdiocese of Toronto, Canada.  Theresa Lee will manage the website.
